Closed-Campus We have a closed-campus policy, which means that once students arrive at the school they are expected to stay on-campus throughout the day. This is to ensure the health and safety of your child, as we are not able to provide supervision for those who leave campus. NOTE: If you should need to sign your child out during the school day, for their safety and security, please sign them out at the office when you pick them up inside the building. As well, we need you to sign them back in when you return them to the school. Your assistance with this ensures their safety and security.
Parking Lot We want to remind parents that our back parking lot is a busy place and we ask that you not deliver or pick up your child at that location. Any extra vehicles in that space can disrupt personnel that are trying to get to their locations. Drop off and Pick-up areas are along the Bert Bowes track area as well as our front parking lot area.
Announcements will be made at the beginning & end of each day. Messages and announcements will be displayed on our hallway monitors as well. We ask all students to be quiet during the announcements.
Lockers will be assigned to individual students and will not be shared. Lockers will be issued when students pay their locker fee at the beginning of the school year. Only school locks can be used on the lockers and these are issued at the school office. Students are reminded to keep their combinations private from others. The school will not be held responsible for valuables left in lockers. If any student has reason to believe that any locker contains anything that could threaten the safety of other students, staff or any other person, that student is expected to immediately report the information to a teacher or administrator. The name of the student making the report will be kept confidential. Administration has the authority to inspect lockers if there is reason to believe they contain illegal or dangerous items.
Money and Valuables ~ Students should not leave money and valuables in their lockers or unattended anywhere in the school. The school is not responsible for theft from lockers.
Lost & Found items can be found in the collection box in the student lounge and/or the office. Throughout the year, we display these lost items in the halls to try and get them back to their owners.
Bicycles must be locked in the bicycle stands provided. We ask students to walk their bikes on the school property to avoid any accidents with those walking.
Cell Phones and Smart Watches BBMS recognizes that the use of personal technology is an accepted part of everyday life. Students may have this technology at school but they MUST be responsible for safe and appropriate use in accordance with the School Code of Conduct and the School District 60 Acceptable Use Agreement. During instructional time, these personal devices are to be TURNED OFF/SILENCED and stored IN THEIR ASSIGNED LOCKER. During class time, personal devices may ONLY be used for educational purposes as directed by the teacher.
